AAS Changeover - dickbloom - 03-29-2010

Somewhere I read that AAS is going to be discontinued and replaced with MYAAS. Is that correct? If so is the change over mandantory and when will this happen?
thanks,
db.

Dick,

This is true, however it may be a while before this happens. First MyAAS must be able to facilitate the personal/GA division flights. Keep watching the forums.

Re: AAS Changeover - dickbloom - 03-30-2010

Sorry to hear that as I'm not going with net.framework. Plus, have had no problems with AAS.

Hi,

.NET doesn't require any effort from you unless you are running XP and need to download one install file. Vista and Win 7 already install a version of .NET on your computer.

Re: AAS Changeover - ITZREAL - 03-31-2010

Dick,

I myself had an initial concern switching from AAS to MY AAS. I run Windows XP with FSX. Since crossing over to MY AAS, I have had no problems. Since then, I actually like it in that I don't have to worry about internet connection. As an old fart who is used to one way and you stick to it, I will say that MY AAS is a better way to fly and PIREP within AirSource. Try it on a small flight. I think you will like.

Mike

Re: AAS Changeover - ROGERP - 04-01-2010

HI Dick
I changed over to MyAAS some time ago when AAS started to loose a little of its shine.
I think if you change over or try it for some time you will see its immediate benefits like only having to connect to the web when downloading flights or sending sitreps.
The only downside for me is that it does not replicate the AAS feature of having to use your mouse at regular intervals to continue its function.
This was a feature which attracted me to AirSource.
Maybe it is still in the pipeline.
I hope that you try and enjoy MyAAS.
Best regards
Roger

I must admit to being in the opposite camp on this one. Although I will reverently be at the controls for 5 and even 6 hour flights, it is impossible for me to fly much over that while being at the computer. If the "move the mouse" thingy returns, I'm afraid my really long flights will either go away or be manually reported with the loss of V$...I have no choice at all.

Re: AAS Changeover - rabhaw - 04-04-2010

I like MyAAS having used it now for a couple of weeks. However, I do really like the METAR feature which ASS has and miss it. I use Active Sky so it's not a big problem, just that the wx in ASS was very convinent.

Both are good.

Re: AAS Changeover - Ken Bolish - 04-04-2010

You have weather in your Ass? I bet it's hot and humid all of the time.
Anyway, I miss AAS because of the automatic crew announcements. But MyAAS does have the outside temperature. The higher you fly, the colder it gets.
