Title: FSX users!!
Threaded Mode
#1
I have reinstalled FSX and have found some pretty good tweek sites to help with preformance
I have just a couple questions.

1: Any problems with pmdg md11, pmdg 747 and Leveld767 running on fsx. Any install order??

2: With the PMDG747 on the ground with slidders mid range, autogen midrange to allow Blueprint to show scenery, I was getting right around 12-15fps with no tweak to CFG file
That seemed not to bad. Slight studder, but I found a good tweek site to help with studders and blurries. What do you guys think??

3: Could anyone with a tweeked CFG file copy and paste to give me an idea what to aim for. That would be great!!

Specs: ASUS790FX MOBO
750w PSU
AMD9950 BE (OC) to 3.0ghz and stable. Note, those frame rates above were at 2.6ghz
ATI 4750x2 HD ( buffer setting would help with this. A little confused on that setting).
4gb ddr2 RAM
FSX installed with SP1 and SP2 to it's own file not programs file x86
Vista64bit OS.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

Hey Brett, I have been tweaking my FSX cfg file for years now and have basically come to the conclusion that after sp2 the tweaks for me have not really made any sort of drastic difference, however I found a neat little program which I'm sure others have heard of "FPS limiter" check it out http://www.caveofdistraction.com/2009/0 ... er-titles/ it really has made a world of difference for me. I also invested in GEX and GEX Europe I find with these texture enhancements I can turn the sliders down and still maintain a realistic environment, infact I find I pretty much have to turn the sliders down or FSX looks to busy. Here is also some interesting reading from the head hauncho at aerosoft.

WOW, 25 views and one reply??? Thanks Ian. Yeah, from all the searching, I pretty much came to the conclusion that most of the tweeks are for post SP1 and SP2. Only tweek I did to the CFG flile was the bandwidth, FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.33 and TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=4500
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=3000. Don't think I needed that one but what the hell, trial and error. Im with you, I have GEX_USA, Grond Enviroment X and Flight Environment and that trio does wonders. Updated my vid drivers. Played with the slidders, and and very pleased with the performance I am getting. Im not even overclocking. Running at 2.6ghz. In the PMDG MD11 on the ground at MEM with BluePrint installed, and Scenery Complexity set to very dense, Autogen set to Dense I was at 17-20fps. Not bad. Very smooth. Havent noticed any studders. Right now at cruise Im in the VC and am at 25fps, in 2d cockpit Im at 35 and that is what I am locked at. I read that artical you refered me too, and we had just about the same settings. I went to unlimited and in 2d at cruise I was busting a 100. Still early in testing, but I think I am on the right track. Just have to wait till my fav scenery comes out, and make minor adjustments.

One thing I did finally figure out was the runtime error I would get when running squawkbox out of the modules in the add-ons. Got that fixed. No more runtime errors. That was a complaint I had when I first ran FSX when the MD11 was released and nobody knew of a fix. That was a huge fix!!!!

Once again, thanks Ian for the reply and the links!!

Oh, and a huge frame rate increaser is "Autohide Taskbar" That gives you lots of frames, its amazing, and turn off Side bar does wonders too!! But Im sure most people knew these things!!
