Title: Flying on the sim vs. Working on the sim
Threaded Mode
#1
I have a question. I'm sure as fellow Virtual airmen (or women if there are any that browse these forms) that I'm not the only one, but just wanted to make sure. Has anyone else had one of those 4 hour sessions where you were "Working" on the sim not flying, ie. add-ons, tweaking, panels, .cfg files?

thanks,

All the time , i never fly to default FS airports so before i fly i check to find an addon for the airport payware or freeware .

I spend one day a week 'working' on the sim. It is usually Monday, as that is my one day off. I use that day to catch up on everything that I have done. It might be adjusting CFG's, panels, downloading, or whatever. I keep detailed records of every flight I fly, so often I have to record some info that I may not entered before. One day a week for me is the norm.

All the darn time! Like others, I look for scenery, liveries and AFCADs...then spend time troubleshooting the above mentioned when they crash my system! Tongue

Heck, my last flight into the UK for an ASHA Admin flight went "black screen" as I approached...after 2.5hours of flight! I've deleted every thing "UK" I can find...just haven't got up the "peace and serenity" to try to fly to the UK again...may be awhile  .

My stress level would probably be better if I followed Jim's advice...but I like better scenery and AFCADS too much!

Like any complex system you want to work well I believe it must be maintained. I add AFCADS, liverys, AI & sceneries from time to time. After any additions I run specific test to ensure that they function normally in the sim. It seems to pay off as I rarely encounter any problems during a flight. For me, the reliability is worth the time invested.
