Title: Single engine "light" GA aircraft
Threaded Mode
#1
Can anyone recommend a "great" single engine light GA aircraft? I like low and slow sometimes.

Check out the Diamond Katanas. They're nimble lil birds with awesome visibility. Flew them in RL.

Barry Blaisdale (sp?) has many freeware version.

Abacus has the DA-20 Katanas (2place) DA-40 (4place), DA-42 (4place twin engine) and the Diamond Jet. Each of them is just $10 ea, great price for a decent bird. At $10 I'd consider them practically freeware.

Aersoft Has a payware version that's pretty good.

Also check out the Liberty XL. I forget who makes but it's another low and slow bird.

For light aircraft, but with a bit of speed, check out Eaglesofts SR-22 (not freeware, but EagleSoft does some good birds.

There was a nice decathalon however since FFS went belly up so did the freeware model! I wish when developers decide to cease business they would put some of their stuff up on avsim or flightsim.com. I believe that very model was in a pc pilot issue. So you might be able to find it through them or something. You could also look on avsim... if you were looking for something like a bush plane just type in bfu in the search and you'll find some really nice models that way. And if you felt like buying anything Carenado has some really great GA a/c.

If you want to go "low & slow" this is my personal favorite.

Lynn & Bill Lyons' Classic Waco.

Actually all of Lynn & Bill Lyons' aircraft are excellent.

Not really slow, but excellent:

Pilatus PC-12 (as payware or also as a freeware version at avsim available) is one of my favourites.

Freeware: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=53461

Have fun
