While you guys are discussing the topic, can I toss in a little more food for thought? In addition to hours, how about something for # of flights. or a combined award? Granted 10,000 hours is an amazing acheivement and should be noticed, but it is possible to get there alot quicker flying long-haul Intercontinental flights than it is flying something like the Southwest schedule where there is essentially nothing longer than 4-5 hours, and the majority would be under 2 hours. In the same way that aircraft age is measured in terms of hours/cycles, is there some way to build that in to ranks?
I know typically pilots experience is measured in hours, so this is the traditional ranking/award system, but I thought I would toss this out there since it sounds like there are discussions coming up on the topic.
Just my 2c...
