Title: FSX steam versus P3dv4
Linear Mode
#3
paul01942 Wrote:I know alot of users on this site opt for FSX but wanted to ask all you knowledgeable people to assist me.

I've flown Microsoft FS since way back to MFS98 enjoying the transition, now flying steam version, I'm changing my laptop to a Rog Stix G gaming laptop this week, where I love FSX steam I'm hearing great things about P3DV4, so can I ask you quite simply:
1. Is P3dv4 any good?
2. Is it better graphically than fsx steam?
3. Is the £49.99 version ok to use or do I need to buy the very expensive one?
4. Are there many add ons?
5. Do you have to pay for it each year? Or is it a one off cost?
6. I have lots of paid add ons for FSX steam, such as quality wings 757, captain sim 767, just flights A318, A321, CLS 747-200/300, 767, DC10, A330/340 will they work on P3dv4?

Thank you in advance

Paul

1. Very Good IMO. P3DV4 is a 64 bit simulator. "OOMs" are virtually eliminated. Aircraft and scenery can be more advanced due to the 64 bit architect.
2. Yes. It has the the ability to use HDR lighting. Eliminates scenery "popping". Just to mention a few of many graphics improvements.
3. That is your decision.
4. Yes. As many and in some instances more than FSX. Many developers have switched to developing for the 64 bit architect only.
5. Updates are free. New versions are pay. V3, V3, V4, V5 etc are pay. They are large upgrades.
6. Not many FSX addons will work in P3dV4 as it is a 64 bit sim. Need to check with developers as some, not many, have offered free upgrades

Hope that helps.
