This sucks.
If you've been reading the VATSIM forums, the sky is falling and the end has come.
Please.
This is a huge set back, but let's not start the panic quite yet. Even after 4-5 years FS2004 is still a huge percentage (maybe the majority) of the simulators we see flying the virtual skies.
The main drawback keeping people from using FSX or X-plane is the lack of add ons.
I think this is about to change. In order for companies like Wilco or PMDG to survive they've gotta make a change to adapt.
Heck they're still making products for FS2004.
Let's give it 4-5 years before we start the doomsaying. Somebody else will come and fill the void should MS quit making the FS product.
Prayers and hope to the employees and their families for what has to be a difficult time. And many many thanks for the years of enjoyment.
If somebody arrainged a petition, I'd sign it in a heartbeat.
