From Rome to Paris... With hearts swelling with pride and eyes set on triumph, Italy’s national Olympic team embarked on their journey from Rome to Paris for this year’s Olympics. Traveling on ITA Airways (Italia Trasporto Aereo) Airbus A321NEO, the team was ready to shine on the world stage.
A Flight Towards Glory The journey began at Rome-Fiumicino Airport, where the sleek, azure-colored Airbus A321NEO awaited. Our heroic athletes, 210 in total, boarded. The atmosphere was electric with shared determination to make Italy proud.

The Challenge of Numbers This year, our team outdid itself with an unprecedented number of 210 athletes qualifying. However, this triumph presented a logistical challenge. The Airbus A321NEO, despite its impressive capacity, could not accommodate all our athletes and support staff in one go.
A lesson in patience and team spirit to ensure every athlete reached Paris ready to compete, ITA Airways organized a rotation of flights. This plan showcased impeccable organization and the unbreakable spirit of our squadra, where no one was left behind.
"Forza Azzurri!" echoed in the hearts of millions of Italians, filled with pride and hope. Each landing in Paris was met with warm embraces, symbolizing the unity and strength of Italy.

Conclusion the journey of Italy’s Olympic team from Rome to Paris was more than just a trip; it was a moment of unity, pride, and hope. Every athlete, every smile, and every word exchanged aboard the aircraft represented the best of Italy, ready to dazzle the world once more. With hearts full of emotion, our athletes are poised to write new chapters of glory. Forza Italia, towards new victories!

Thank you for such nice words, Tom. When sitting in the cockpit and monitoring instruments, I have plenty of time to make up a short story of each flight and frankly, sometimes it is more fun than to fly on well known airway and counting ferries down there in blue abys Big Grin

Avianca's Boeing 787 Dreamliner, adorned with the special livery "Unidos por la biodiversidad," embarked on a significant journey from Bogota to Paris. This flight was not just another transatlantic voyage; it carried the pride and hope of Colombia as the nation's Olympic team was on board, ready to compete in the upcoming games. The unique livery, "Unidos por la biodiversidad," represents Colombia's commitment to preserving its rich biodiversity.

This initiative highlights the nation's diverse ecosystems and emphasizes the importance of conservation. The vibrant and symbolic design of the aircraft served as a flying ambassador of Colombia’s natural beauty and its dedication to protecting it. On this special flight, Avianca had the honor of transporting 70 Colombian athletes, who will compete across 25 different disciplines. Their journey to Paris marked the beginning of their quest to bring pride and medals back to Colombia.
The flight was smooth for the most part, with only a few instances of mild turbulence that required the captain to turn on the fasten seatbelts sign. The professionalism of Avianca’s crew ensured that the athletes' journey was comfortable and pleasant, allowing them to focus on the competitions ahead.

As the aircraft touched down at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, the sense of excitement and readiness among the athletes was palpable. During the de-boarding process, the captain took the time to personally wish each athlete the best of luck. His heartfelt greetings and encouragement added a personal touch to the flight, reinforcing the national support behind the team. The sight of the "Unidos por la biodiversidad" livery in Paris was a testament to Colombia's dedication not only to sports but also to its environmental heritage. The entire nation stands behind its athletes, wishing them success and cheering for their achievements. God bless the Colombian team as they compete on the world stage.

Ecuadorian Olympic Athletes Locked in Transit at Madrid's Adolfo Suárez Airport

In an unexpected turn of events, the Ecuadorian Olympic team found themselves stranded in the transit terminal of Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. The athletes had arrived in Spain on an Air Europa flight from Guayaquil aboard a Boeing 787.

The flight was smooth and uneventful, but what awaited them upon landing was far from anticipated.

The team’s next leg of the journey is an Air France flight 1401 to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. However, this flight is operated by Air Source, which supplies the pilots for the journey. Complications arose when it was discovered that all three necessary flight passes for the pilots were not in order. One flight pass had already been redeemed by an Air Source pilot but had not been returned to the pool, and the other two passes had been obtained but not yet flown. This bureaucratic mix-up left the Ecuadorian athletes in transit, unable to proceed to their final destination.

We will continue to monitor this situation closely and provide updates as they become available. The hope is that all Ecuadorian athletes will make it to Paris on time and will not miss the opening of the Olympic Games due to this operational hiccup. Stay tuned for further developments as we await a resolution that will allow the team to continue their journey and fulfill their Olympic dreams.

Flights Aviation enthusiasts were treated to a fascinating journey as the Cuban Olympic team made their way to Paris to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games. The team, consisting of 50 athletes and a support team of 20 members, embarked on their adventure with two notable flights. The first leg of their journey was on a COPA Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration HP-1842CMP.

This aircraft, fitted with advanced sharklets, is known for its enhanced fuel efficiency and improved aerodynamics. The sleek wingtip devices not only reduce fuel consumption but also contribute to a quieter and smoother flight. The Cuban team enjoyed a comfortable trip from Havana to Panama City aboard this state-of-the-art aircraft.

After a smooth transit in Panama City, the team transferred to an Air France Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, registration F-HRBD, for the final leg to Paris.

The Dreamliner is renowned for its cutting-edge technology and passenger comfort. It features larger windows, improved cabin pressure, and higher humidity levels, which help reduce jet lag and increase overall comfort during long-haul flights. Additionally, the B787-8 is highly efficient, consuming 20% less fuel than older aircraft of similar size, making it an environmentally friendly choice. The journey was seamless, with both flights providing the athletes and their support team with the amenities needed to arrive in Paris well-rested and ready for competition.

The COPA 737-800 and the Air France 787-8 demonstrated the excellence in modern aviation technology, making the Cuban team’s travel experience a memorable one.

Update on the status of Ecuadorian athletes:

Today, July 12, Ecuadorian athletes have flown from Madrid to Paris, the venue of the 2024 Olympic Games. The Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (Comité Olímpico Ecuatoriano), on behalf of its president, Mr. Jorge Delgado Panchan, officially expressed their gratitude to Mr. Tom Little, the Executive Vice President and AirSource Chief, for his assistance in resolving the situation. Mr. Little's prompt and effective action helped successfully resolve the issue without unnecessary delays and complications, ensuring that all athletes and the support team flew to Paris today on board the specially arranged A319. This enables the entire team to kick off the games in 14 days.

The only hiccup in the otherwise smooth journey was the forgotten hair curler in room 316 of 100m hurdler Maribel Caicedo. Upon realizing this, Maribel expressed with a smile that she will borrow it from her colleague and friend, sprinter Nicole Caicedo.
