Title: AIRSOURCE 10TH ANNIVERSARY: ALL PILOTS PLEASE READ!
Threaded Mode
#1
The 1st of June 2010 marks a momentous occasion on the AirSource calendar. On this date AirSource will have reached TEN YEARS since opening its doors to the world and stamping its mark in the world of virtual aviation. Its founding members, three of which reached 10 years service on 1 March 2010, were Tom Little, Ron Reed and Richard Light. These are the ones who provided the vision and sowed the seeds for what we all enjoy today as an organisation. Congratulations Tom, Ron and Richard, for without your hard work at the very beginning, none of this would have been possible. We are all grateful for this ??? thank you.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary we will be issuing a commemorative award that will be given to all pilots and placed in their logbooks. This will only be issued to those that are currently serving as a rostered pilot in AirSource, as at 1 June 2010. An award design competition will be run which will be open to all pilots. The concept is to come up with a design that reflects both the successes of the past and the outlook to the future and that can be proudly displayed in pilot???s logbooks. Details of this competition will be posted in due course - but start getting those artistic creative minds working!

Additionally, our VP Bid Flight Division (Mark Richards) is currently working on an AirSource Bid Flight Division event that will run in the lead-up to the 1st of June 2010. The Executive Management Team (EMT) is currently in the process of approving this event and it is hoped that as many pilots as possible will be available and able to participate. Once the event has been approved, Mark will announce the details.

Projects are currently under way which the EMT are working on and you will all be pleasantly surprised by some innovative concepts that we will be introducing, particularly concerning the Personal Flight Division, however, we will make an announcement on that also in due course.

PLEASE remember that the development of ideas and new concepts and making them become a reality remain a priority that is second only to the real-life commitments of key personnel, such as our AirSource Chief, Tom Little (our chief computer Guru and all-round good guy!), and the time that is available to those people that are in direct support of him.

Finally, I want to personally express my thanks to all those current and past members of the EMT who have contributed to AirSource and for which they have spent a great deal of time and commitment. I want to also thank the hard working Contract Development Officers (Bid Flight Division), Airline Flight Managers (Scheduled Flight Division), and Schedule Development Officers (AirSource Humanitarian Airlift Division) who continue to provide their voluntary service to AirSource. Lastly, I want to thank all of our rostered pilots who continue to participate and enjoy what AirSource has to offer.

Another Thank You to the founders, and all of you who work so hard behind the big picture.

You have provided me with a LOT of fun.

Of the six, maybe eight VA's I've flown, this is the most fun. In fact, all of them have gone away... except AS.

Unable to real fly, flight sim has been my joy since the old Amiga Computer... sometime around 86.. maybe 85 (forgot!).

So thanks again, continue the fun!!!

10 years is quite an accomplishment. I have been here 7 years as of the 20th of this month and I couldn't imagine being with any other VA. Air Source has given me many hours of enjoyment. Also, like Martin said, I have met many very nice and helpful people over the 7 years I have been here and because of them have learned so much more about Flight Sim as well. Congatulations to those who started here and to all those who continue to fly here. Also, special thanks to the management team for their time they put into Air Source, since it is their own personal time. Fantastic job to you all. On that note, 10 years going strong and look forward to the next 10 years.

Happy Flying Everyone!!!!

Cheers everyone and Happy 10 Year Anniversary!

It may be that the roots of our community were planted years ago, but without YOU, the dedicated team of members and managers NONE of this could be! I hope I get the time to program the site with some of the ideas I've seen floating around (and ideas I've had too!) - as it will only strengthen our community and make your hobby home a better place to be!
