Notification of New Radio Telephony Designator and Three Letter ICAO Designator for Virgin Australia Group

28 OCT 2012

1.0 INTRODUCTION
The Virgin Australia Group of Airlines currently use four separate Callsigns:
  • Virgin Australia International - VAU (Vee???Oz)
  • Virgin Australia New Zealand - PBN (BlueBird)
  • Virgin Australia Holdings - VBH (Bluey)
  • Virgin Australia - VOZ (Virgin)

2.0 RADIO TELEPHONY DESIGNATOR AND THREE LETTER ICAO DESIGNATOR
With effect from 00:00z on 28OCT12 (11:00 AEST, 13:00 NZDT, 08:00 AWST) all Virgin Australia Group Airlines will operate under one single Radio Telephony Designator and one single ICAO Designator:
  • Radio Telephony Designator: VELOCITY (+ suffix numbers)
  • Three Letter Designator: VOZ (+ suffix numbers)

3.0 AIRCRAFT AIRBORNE AT TIME OF CHANGE
Any flight with a departure time BEFORE 00:00z on 28OCT12 will continue to use the current designator and Callsign, as listed in Section 1.0 above.

Any flight with a scheduled ETD after 00:00z on 28OCT12 will operate with the new designator and Callsign.

All flights for VAU, PBN and VOZ will be updated in the scheduled division next week to reflect this change.
