Title: FS TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE?
Threaded Mode
#1
Anyone know if FSX is clever enough to show the total solar eclipse that will occur soon? I could place my aircraft exactly in the path then set the date & time for that area... just wondered if it would actually happen or not Smile

Hi Norm,

Although it would be really neat, I don't think so unfortunately.

I tried to go to Columbia, South Carolina @ 18:43 GMT on 21 Aug, and still sunny with no sight of the moon! This is probably due to the fact that, even though FlightSim simulates star and planet/moon positions, the moon is just a texture and not a celestial object that can move in front of the sun.

Yup I had a play around, didn't work. Can't beat the real thing of course.

But... if there are any of our pilots out there who actually are in the totality zone... please do post pictures Smile
